MIA for a while

I know I haven't posted anything in the last few days. It has been insane around here.

The last time I posted I think it was about making an eye appointment for Gib. That went well. I learned that he is farsighted. Not bad enough to where he needs glasses or anything, but he has to go back in a year for another appointment.

That same day I was busy with everything. Ran to the bank, to the craft store, to the post office, to the grocery store and then finally home.

I have been working a lot on my business. Who knew artificial florals were in such high demand? It's great though. One of my favorite things to do, and the best part about it is that it is all mine. I can make my own hours and prices while still being as girly and creative as I wish. I have high hopes of one day opening a small shop in the city. It won't be for a long time, but after we buy a house and get some of our debt payed off I would love to save up for it. I may be 30 by the time that happens.

After another trip to the bank today I went to Jysk for some new stuff for the house. Actually, the purpose of the trip there was to get some wicker basket organizers for the bedrooms and some totes for my business and such. Well I didn't get any of the things I went there for, instead, I spent just under $80cad and purchased 6 throw pillows for the couch and chair, a pretty cute little faux zebra area rug, 3 curtain panels and a cutesy little curtain rod. I took a few pictures today, it's not the whole livingroom mainly because I wasn't finished cleaning it, but here it is. *ps. ignore the toys; also, I am about to redo the shelves so kinda ignore that, too.

I had to hang the panels from the ceiling because they are very long, but I think it looks better anyways, lol. My father in law is making a toy box for the kids so I'm going to let them keep their favorite toys and anything they got for Christmas and everything else I want to ask Gibson to donate to a women's shelter or maybe bring some to the Stollery Children's Hospital.

Well, now that I posted I feel a bit better. I have to finish cleaning our casa and getting it put together again.

Day 2 of 14

Alright, before I begin I want to say I realized tonight that I have made a mistake and missed a word on my blog name. I feel like a fool but it's "The Life OF A Busy Housewife.

This day has topped terrible days by far.

I decided today that it won't hurt anything to get Gibson's eyes and hearing checked before he starts Kindergarden. The lady at the optometrist desk was great. She was helpful, cheery and pleasant to talk to. The Dr. at the hearing clinic on the other hand was a total douche bag. I went in and Gibson sat at a chair playing quietly with his cars while I waited for the Dr. to finish with an elderly lady. He looked at me and told me I couldn't have my kids in there cause he's allergic to kids. Children are not bugs, they are not dirt, they are not diseased. They are tiny human lives that deserve the same treatment as any other human being. Dr. Douche gave me a phone number, address and name of a different clinic that would let my kids in. Never have I ever been so happy to leave an office in my life. I wish he was wearing a name tag so I could report him. Even still, I don't think it would do me any good. I'll never walk into that place again.

At lunch, the waiter screwed up Izaac's order and got him chicken instead of fish. Asked if I wanted it taken back but the poor guy was so hungry that I just said I would take it so he could eat. THEN I find a hair in his fruit salad! Really?!? How can 1 place screw up over and over on one single meal?

After leaving there, I decided to wash the truck. It was so filthy that I couldn't even open it without having to use a wet nap to wash my hands. After 45 minutes or so of scrubbing I finally get released from the hold of the tiny carwash. I didn't even turn out of the parking lot yet when a moron in a little Chevy hits a puddle right in front of me and trashed the hard work and sweat I put into beautifying our machine. Total piss-off!

It's ok though, after all that we went through today I managed to put a smile on my face and do what I do best: Love my babies and have a helluva time with them before bed.

We had ourselves a mini finger painting party!

This is what they came up with: (Gib's is on the left, Izaac's is to the right)

I think they did pretty good considering they are 4 years old and almost 11 months old.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better....

Day 1 of 14

Today Russell went back to work. He goes for 2 weeks at a time and gets a week off. Needless to say, he's not home very often, so we value our time we do get to spend together. The last week has proven to be one of the busiest weeks we have had in a long time.

We started out house hunting, going to an open house, getting licenses paid for the pooch, cleaning (on my part) going dress shopping (also on my part) and so, so much more. But that's all in my previous posts, so I'm not going over it again here.

So this is day 1 of Russ being gone. Started off pretty yucky, too.

We have to drive almost an hour to get the the airport on one of the foggiest days I have ever seen. We get there and the plane has been delayed...3 hours! The fog was so thick that we could not see 10 ft in front of us. So the boys and I sat in the airport waiting with Russ for the plane to arrive. It wasn't all that bad, the kids were having fun playing with the rest of the guys on Russell's crew and I was enjoying the last few hours of being with Russ.

On the way home I guess everyone in Alberta forgot how to drive. The fog had already lifted by this time and the roads were dry, but people seem to think that if the weather was bad at one point it may just magically appear and they may hit the ditch or something. Like seriously folks? Doing 80/KPH in a 110/KPH zone is sooo unnecessary. Especially when there are 3 lanes that turns into 6 all going in the same direction! There was no oncoming traffic! If you live in Alberta (or anywhere with weather like ours) you should at least learn how to drive in the conditions or stay home. I must have looked like a racecar to all those slowpokes and I was only doing the speed limit.

Once the kids and I made it home it was back to the usual grind. Cooking, cleaning, making tons of phone calls, answering business emails, checking facebook, working, yelling at kids, and then some. Now that Izaac is napping and Gib is watching movies in his room I have a bit of room to breathe. I finally have a minute to write about my day and watch a little Rachel Ray (Kevin Bacon is on today's show =) ).

And that's about it for today. Tomorrow is going to be just as eventful!
Baby's up, Gibson's done his movie and Rachel is over. Time to get back to life...

Family Day

It was Family Day here in Alberta today.
And a great day it turned out to be! (aside from a vent, coming up)

After waking up, I hung out with Russ and the kids for a bit playing then got right straight to it. Cleaning , something that has to be done like every 2 hours in this house, especially when you have 3 boys and a dog to take care of daily. (Yes, that 3rd one is my husband). I tell ya, these guys are lucky. I have to toot my own horn here and say that my family is pretty lucky to have me.

After the playing and cleaning we decided to go bowling with some good friends of ours. That was an absolute blast! I had only bowled once before and it sure wasn't with Russell. I'm pretty sure I went on my 16th birthday as soon as I got my license. That was a while ago.

After about the first 6 gutterballs I bowled, I actually started hitting the pins! It's pretty sad though, my 4 year old beat me! I was so embarrased but at least he beat his dad too, lol.
We had loads of fun though, I think I would like to make it a regular deal when Russ comes home from work.

Now for the vent (wedding related)...

We STILL haven't gotten our coffee table album from our wedding. We were married almost 6 months ago!! I am so not impressed! We paid a shite load of money for that book and right now I think Russell is thisclose to calling either Global News Trouble Shooter Team or a lawyer. He has already said he is calling a lawyer if we don't have the book in the next 30 days. I just want the wedding stuff to be over with already! I planned it for almost 2 years and just want to not have to think about it anymore. I want my goddarn book!

(Tantrum over)

The rest of my evening...
Russ and his buddy are at a poker tournament at the casino, 1 kid in bed, 1 more to go. I am going to go down into the basement and start cleaning all the crapola outta there so I don't have to look at it anymore. I'm addicted to shopping and really need to start getting rid of all our old stuff that we don't use anymore.
Then, when is all said and done, I'm gonna have myself a nice, hot, relaxing bubble bath and hope one of the kids don't start screaming within 5 minutes of me crawling in the tub.

Ahhhhh this is the life of a busy housewife....it should be a soap opera.

Signing off,
Busy Bee

The Hallmark Holiday

I don't honestly know why everyone makes a huge deal about Valentine's Day.
Russ and I have been together for almost 4 years and this is our first Valentine's Day we have spent together. Russell is always at work so I spend the day with Gibson, I make it a big deal for him but it's so hard to resist when you see a child's eyes light up when he knows there is a holiday. Any holiday. Even when it is something he doesn't really care about as long as he can run around telling everyone "Happy Balindine's Day!"

He kept trying to convince me that he had to marry me. His dad had to share me today because it was his day to get married and I am the only girl he knows that Loves him as much as I do. Ahhh kids, gotta love 'em!

So anyways, our first <3 Day was nice. It wasn't anything special which made it special in itself. First I woke up with the kids, (I let Russell sleep in) then afterwards we had some friends of ours come over. We got all ready to go and off we went to West Edmonton Mall. That is the worst mall in the world to go to on any occasion, but holy wow! it was I-N-S-A-N-E today! So whatever, we get there and we all split up. I had to go there with my girlfriend for bridesmaid dress shopping (BTW~The dresses are tres cute!) After we finally found eachother again, the first thing my lovely husband says to me is "Hunny, will you be my Valentine?" So cute, yet so cheesy, but soo Russell.
When we got home, Russ told me to relax and take a nap on the couch, which I took full advantage of, I woke up to him telling me supper was ready. So adorable! He's a great cook, but I wasn't really expecting it, to be honest.

All in all, it was a great day. No huge, fancy dinner. No gifts. No cards. Nothing. Just the 4 of us spending time together, remembering why we fell in Love with eachother in the first place.

Yet another great reason why I married the man I did.

Happy Hallmark Day!

Signing off for the night,

My Crazy Life

So hey,

I'm a first time blogger so bear with me. First thing's first, I must tell you about my life and all its craziness.

Oh gosh, I have no idea where to even begin! Let's see...

My husband (Russell) and I are newly married, we still hate eachother as much as we did before we got hitched on August 29th, 2009 and are hoping to hate eachother the same for the next 60 or 70 years. We have 2 small kiddies, Gibson is 4 years and Izaac will be a year old at the end of March (how time flies), a miniature schnauzer, Mac, and a little betta that we call Bumblebee (think Transformers courtesy of our 4 year old).

Our Jobs...

My husband works on a drilling rig and is gone 3 weeks out of the month, which really sucks but it pays the bills. Before I had Izaac I transitioned from being a small motor mechanic to a welder. I miss welding like I miss my husband when he leaves for work. So instead of being a super busy stay-at-home mom, I thought I would be an insanely super-duper crazy busy stay-at-home mom and start a business. I'm kind of a cheeseball so I named it "Wand"erful Life Bouquets, I'm sure you can guess what I do. Artificial Bouquets and such. But I won't linger on that subject.

Housing situation...

I hate my house right now. We rent a townhouse in a pretty quiet little neighborhood, I'm not down with the townhouse though. We don't have a yard, no privacy, and when I say no privacy I mean I can hear my next door neighbor in their bathroom, which is connected to our washroom. There is no parking, no cupboard space or countertops...I mean seriously, this list can go on for days. We recently decided that we were going to look for something else to rent for a little while and within a year or so we are hoping to buy a place in the same area. We actually went and looked at a cute little character home today and I fell in love with it. It is for sale, but we put in an application to rent it with an option to own later. Now it is just a matter of me having to convince my cheapo husband to buy it. We do have a lot of other debt to get out of the way before buying becomes a reality, so for now I will enjoy not having to fix a plugged up toilet or repairing a hole in the roof. I'll let that be the landlord's job.

The Healthy Lifestyle...

Every Friday, I pack up the boys and make a 30 minute drive to the town over to go to a kick ass spin class with my older sister who just happens to be my BFF. The kids play there while we get our asses seriously beaten by a bunch of young little teeny boppers. Now that is sad. As well as spin, I do kickboxing in the privacy of my own home, and have joined all those online sites that count your calories for you. That along with the help of some fellow August '09 Nesties I have learned that planning your meals ahead of time really makes for planning healthier meals.

So far, with all this hard work and serious dedication, I have lost all my baby weight in all of 9 months of our dear little boy being born. YAY ME!!

Okay, okay, okay...

So I think that's enough about me and my craziness for now, I will definitely have so much more to post in the coming days but for now, it's time for this busy bee to get to bed.
